Following its recent acquisition by SLR, Wardell Armstrong now forms part of a leading global environmental and sustainability consultancy working on projects across the world from over 100 offices. Due to business growth, we have a new vacancy for an experienced EIA Consultant.

Overview of team / business area

Our EIA Team provides high-quality support to a range of development types, including residential development, retail, storage and distribution, renewable energy, waste facilities, utilities, and minerals.

Our EIA Coordinators are experts in their field, overseeing and managing EIAs from scheme conception to post-submission. Wardell Armstrong is also a registrant of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) EIA Quality Mark, demonstrating our commitment to excellence in EIA services.

The role

Working as part of our Birmingham-based Environment and Planning team, you will be involved in screening, scoping, and coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments, collaborating with internal and external specialists and environmental stakeholders. Additionally, you will participate in preparing and delivering planning applications for various infrastructure and development projects. You will assist with financial monitoring and budget management and contribute to business development activities.

This is a full-time position; part-time applicants will also be considered. We are open to candidates with 2-8 years of experience.

Candidate requirements

* You will hold a degree in an environmental discipline and preferably (though not essential) a second degree in Environmental Impact Assessment or Environmental Management.
* You should be motivated, with strong organizational and communication skills. Flexibility and the ability to contribute to multiple work streams are important. A good knowledge of the UK planning system, the EIA Regulations, and experience in coordinating environmental assessments are required. Due to the nature of the work, travel throughout the UK may be necessary.
