Centre for Medicines Discovery, NDM Research Building, Old Road Campus, Roosevelt Drive, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7FZ The Centre for Medicines Discovery at the Nuffield Department of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to develop new treatments for tuberculosis. You will be part of the medicinal chemistry team within the CMD and report to Prof Paul Brennan, Dr Annette von Delft, and Dr Tryfon Tzitzikas-Zarganis. Your primary responsibility will be to design and synthesise novel small molecules while working closely with other scientists within the project team to ensure new molecules are tested on tuberculosis targets. It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in organic synthesis or medicinal chemistry, along with demonstrable experience in small molecule synthesis and characterization. You will be familiar with chemistry drawing packages, MS Office products, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and able to learn other software packages. It is essential you have experience with anti-microbial drug discovery and medicinal chemistry, and experience with computational chemistry and virtual screening. Experience with fragment- and structure-based drug discovery is required for this role, as well as experience with biophysical screening on protein targets.
