Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our Tax Advisory team, supporting an Advisory Director and Partners. This key role acts as a bridge between senior leadership and junior staff, delivering high‑quality advisory work, managing a small portfolio of clients, and developing the wider team.
Key Responsibilities – Client Delivery & Advisory
* Lead and deliver high quality corporate tax advisory services, including:
o M&A transactions (buy side and sell side)
o Reorganisations, MBOs, and Employee Ownership Trusts (EoTs)
o International expansion and structuring
o Tax due diligence and structuring advice
* Manage and review complex advisory projects, ensuring commercially focused and technically robust outcomes
* Act as a key point of contact for clients, building strong and trusted relationships
* Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to add value
Compliance & Portfolio Management
* Manage a small portfolio of clients, including oversight of corporate tax compliance
* Review compliance work prepared by junior team members, ensuring quality and timeliness
* Maintain strong client relationships across the portfolio, acting as a trusted adviser
* Ensure compliance processes are delivered efficiently and aligned to wider advisory opportunities
Project & Team Leadership
* Lead complex projects, coordinating input from specialists, including international teams where required
* Demonstrate strong project management across multiple concurrent assignments
* Act as a key mentor and coach to junior team members
* Provide technical guidance, training, and support to develop team capability
* Serve as a key link between junior team members and senior leadership
Business Development
* Identify and develop new business opportunities from existing and prospective clients
* Support Partners and Directors in preparing proposals and winning new work
* Build and maintain a strong internal and external network
* Actively contribute to cross‑selling initiatives across service lines
* Keep Partners informed of potential opportunities and market developments
Key Skills & Experience
* Strong corporate tax advisory experience, with a focus on transactions and restructurings
* Proven experience in M&A tax, due diligence, and structuring
* Experience managing both advisory assignments and compliance portfolios
* Exposure to a wide range of clients, including large corporates and OMBs
* Some personal tax experience is desirable but not essential
* Excellent client‑facing and relationship‑management skills
* Strong commercial awareness with the ability to deliver practical, actionable advice
* Demonstrable project‑management capability across complex assignments
* Experience managing, mentoring, and developing junior staff
* Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and geographies
Qualifications
* CTA and/or ACA qualified (or equivalent)
* Degree educated (or equivalent experience)
Additional Information
* The role is based across Cambridge and Ipswich, with flexibility required to spend time in both locations
* This is a key position within a growing advisory team, offering strong progression opportunities and exposure to senior stakeholders
