The Role
The Mechanic - Cryogenic is an exciting opportunity for someone coming from a Mechanic/Vehicle repair background to take the next step in their career into the fascinating world of cryogenics. This role will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, refurbishing and servicing of cryogenic, vacuum isolated tanks used for the storage and transport of cryogenic, liquefied gases such as liquid nitrogen, oxygen, and helium. We will offer full and comprehensive training including visits to other European sites to learn cryogenics and trucks/trailer repairs and overhauls. The role involves ensuring the safe operation of cryogenic tanks, maintaining system integrity, and performing diagnostics and repairs on tanks and tank components, from small component repairs to full refurbishments. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with vacuum systems, tools and methods to test them and create the vacuum; however, we are also open to those from a vehicle mechanic background. A strong understanding of safety protocols related to cryogenic gases would be very beneficial.
What Will You Do
Cryogenic vacuum isolated tank testing, maintenance & repairs:
* Checking and servicing cryogenic gas storage tanks, their insulation, vacuum, transfer systems, cryogenic pumps, pipes, valves and safety valves.
* Drying the tank, re-creating the vacuum test method.
* Perform full refurbishments on cryogenic tanks, especially checking and servicing cryogenic gas storage tanks, their insulation, vacuum, transfer systems, cryogenic pumps, pipes, valves and safety valves.
* Inspect cryogenic tanks and piping for leaks, wear, and overall system integrity, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
* Replace or repair damaged or malfunctioning parts such as valves, gauges, pumps, regulators, and pressure relief devices.
* Inspect tanks for leaks using helium leak testing.
* Technical Troubleshooting: Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to assess and resolve technical problems.
* Preventive Maintenance: Perform periodic inspections and preventive servicing. Monitor the condition of cryogenic tanks to maintain isolation and cooling performance. Maintain maintenance logs and records of repairs, inspections, and modifications.
What Do You Bring
