The Role: We are looking to recruit a Test Rod and Rope Engineer. You will be responsible for building and maintaining new and existing Core Telecommunications Access Networks, Installation rope/Subduct, and checking Customer Lead-ins. As our Test Rod & Rope Engineer your key responsibilities will be: Entering and working cable chambers, footway & carriageway boxes and manholes Appropriately using safety equipment and procedures, ensuring H&S/Highways guidelines for safe roadside/pathway working are always followed and implemented and in depth understanding and appreciate of the Street works considerations Conducting Test Rodding and Roping of underground ducts, ensuring traffic management requirements are met Verifying Pole bens and producing Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) upon task completion Proficiency interpreting Microsoft Word/Excel/PDF-based job packs and BT duct diagrams Working outdoors in all weather conditions, with all necessary equipment and vehicles provided by the company Adhering to the completion deadlines, including tasks in confined spaces to meet operational requirements Locate blockages and establish a clear route Testing Lead-ins to properties What you’ll bring to toob: A proven track record in Test Rod & Roping/cabling UG ducts/pole bends within the Openreach network Solid experience working on the Openreach PIA network (or Portal) Ability to conduct risk assessments and hazard identifications, with a strong focus on Health and Safety practises Location avoidance experience Driven to achieve weekly targets, with a focus on time-keeping performance Commitment to teamwork, championing toob values and business objectives Adaptable to any works permitted within the UG network Ability to think critically, solve problems, and work independently with initiative Excellent communication skills and a customer-centric approach Full UK manual driving licence with a clean record (held for a minimum of 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points) - For insurance purpose, we can only supply company vehicles to those aged 25 and over Have the right to work in the UK with no restrictions Relevant KPIs Completions of assigned jobs within agreed SLA Identify and where possible mitigate blockages Must have technical / professional qualifications: Sign, Lighting & Guarding (Street Works) NOPS Registration Confines spaces (medium risk) Safety underground SA002 K008 What we offer you!
