Description
Torbay Children’s Services is seeking to recruit a creative and innovative educational psychologist to expand its existing team of skilled and friendly staff, as we develop and grow. We welcome applications for both part-time and full-time roles.
We are interested in hearing from experienced EPs, those at an earlier stage of their careers, and trainees currently on educational psychology doctoral training programmes. We particularly welcome applications from trainees qualifying in September 2025.
The Educational Psychology Service is a highly valued team within the local authority. We aim to offer a balanced workload of traded and statutory work and are pleased to provide opportunities to focus on early identification and prevention projects. Our service delivery model is consultation-based, with options for in-depth casework, systemic work, and professional development, promoting solution-focused, person-centred approaches and co-production with partner agencies to facilitate positive change.

Skills
* The full range of skills appropriate to a fully qualified educational psychologist
* Sensitivity in working with adults and young people, both individually and in groups
* Ability to work empathically and supportively with clients and families, especially when they feel anxious or distressed
This role requires confident and fluent communication in English.
Knowledge
* Understanding of psychological and educational assessment and intervention developments
* Knowledge of normal and abnormal development in childhood and adolescence, including common conditions
* Familiarity with various intervention approaches suitable for schools and everyday settings
Experience & Qualifications
* Experience working with children and young people with special educational needs
* Experience using diverse psychological assessment and intervention techniques
