As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will work closely with our cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet all performance, reliability, and safety requirements. A successful candidate will draw upon previous experience using advanced computer-aided design (CAD) software to create niche 3D models and detailed engineering drawings. This is a rare opportunity to see your work deployed in revolutionary systems Responsibilities Working cross functionally across company to create design specifications Creating initial designs and prototypes for bespoke components Collaborating with third parties to evaluate and select solutions Create and maintain process documentation, project plans and reports Producing drawings and full assembly packs including bill of materials Conducting Ansys thermal analysis to optimise part design Collaborating cross functionally across teams to improve processes Conducting first article assembly builds and testing Using Solidworks for 3D design CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Experience using Ansys for thermal simulations Experience using Solidworks Experience with Bill of materials Degree in Mechanical Design Engineering or other related field Industry experience in a similar role Excellent understanding of mechanical engineering, material properties and machining processes Familiarity with component design in tight tolerances (for example satellites, cryogenic systems or magnet design) Good interpersonal skills with ability to work with customers and suppliers Ability to take initiative and work in a self-driven manner DESIRED SKILLS Experience of working in a Research & Development environment Start-up experience Experience engaging with suppliers Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) experience Research has shown that women are less likely than men to apply for this role if they do not have solid experience in 100% of these areas.
