Product Owner – Allianz UK
This position is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract opportunity with Allianz Personal.
Role Description
You will lead a Scrum team, supporting change throughout the full development process from concept to delivery. You will evaluate all opportunities and prioritise what gets built and delivered through a clear concise backlog. You will also support the Business Analysis / Scrum team with epic creation and Business Owners with solution validation, review of epics, user stories, designs and solutions. You also support the business validation testing of the developed solution and ensure alignment with the Architecture team.
Location
Office location is flexible. This position is available on a hybrid basis.
Salary
Pay: Circa £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location.
About You – Responsibilities
* Understand the technology product/application and manage stakeholder expectations regarding its functionality.
* Regularly demo Scrum team progress to keep business areas informed of upcoming changes.
* Engage in user story definition, providing clarifications for accurate story estimates and sequencing.
* Act as the customer proxy, prioritising and refining the team backlog for sprint planning.
* Decide on acceptance or rejection of user stories and their sprint development timeline.
* Maintain awareness of wider portfolios to ensure backlog alignment with broader initiatives.
* Encourage Scrum team engagement in backlog refinement and user story writing, providing support as needed.
* Confirm the definition of "Done" aligns with expectations and is complete.
* Work with the Scrum Master to monitor team progress towards key delivery dates.
* Coordinate with Product Owners, Business Owners, and Programme Leads for aligned design, build, and test cycles.
* Sign off on sprint development work, ensuring quality and alignment with the definition of "Done."
* Be available for day‑to‑day decisions, providing quick, clear guidance to help the team pivot when necessary.
* Maintain a well‑defined backlog of future change items for consideration in planning future sprints and PIs.
* Escalate deviations, blockers, and dependencies to ensure delivery plans stay on track.
Essential Skills
* Technical understanding of company systems and business processes.
* Basic knowledge of Agile methodology, including frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.
* Understanding of the Product Owner role and willingness to learn. Previous experience not required.
* Knowledge of Mid‑Corporate business vision and changing technology/processes.
* A critical thinker with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to energise cross‑functional teams; self‑motivated with risk‑based approach to decision making.
* Team player with domain knowledge, applying and developing business insights.
* Strong collaboration with Scrum Master, Product Owners, Project Managers, and Release Train Engineers for cross‑team changes.
