Family Liaison Officer SEMH/Autism School
Location: Mole Valley, Surrey
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent, Full Time

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Liaison Officer to join our dynamic team at School Name, a specialist setting committed to supporting pupils with SEMH and Autism. This pivotal role is designed to strengthen the bridge between home and school, ensuring that every child receives the holistic support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as the main point of contact for families, supporting them with engagement, communication, and access to relevant services.
2. Work closely with the Pastoral Lead and wider school team to identify and address barriers to pupil progress and wellbeing.
3. Support families through periods of crisis or transition, providing advice, emotional support, and signposting to external agencies.
4. Promote positive parenting strategies and contribute to the development of parent workshops and school events.
5. Maintain accurate records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with safeguarding protocols.
6. Represent the school in a calm, sensitive, and highly professional manner at all times.
7. Respond promptly to issues, complaints, and enquiries from parents, seeking guidance from department leads, and working under the direction of the Pastoral and Wellbeing Lead.
8. Ensure grievances and concerns are resolved promptly to maintain positive relationships and prevent escalation.
9. Proactively address potential issues to avoid unrest.
10. Provide regular feedback to the Head Teacher and SLT on parent-related issues, recording outcomes and analyzing trends bi-weekly.
11. Maintain and analyze Compliments and Complaints records for submission to the Governing Body.
About You:
* Experience working with families and children in school, social care, or community settings, preferably within SEN or SEMH contexts.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with diverse families.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, inclusion, and challenges faced by children with SEMH/Autism.
* Proactive, resilient, and empathetic approach to relationship-building and problem-solving.
* Calm, sensitive, and professional demeanor as the school’s representative.
* Qualified Teacher Status or Qualified Social Worker/DSL/Deputy/Team Teach qualification or similar.
