As Principal of Outwood Academy City, I am really proud to be able to introduce you to our amazing academy. Since I started, 'new leaders have begun to transform the culture of the school', so come and join us on our transformative journey. Serving the bustling city of Sheffield, Outwood Academy City has undergone a huge transformation for its 1200 students, with an innovative curriculum and a personalised approach to learning, enabling our young people to realise their vocational, practical, creative and academic abilities. Pupils learn an ambitious curriculum that the school has carefully sequenced to ensure that we give our young people the best chance to succeed. Our students are a really special group of young people, and they are at the heart of everything we do. Alongside our ambitious curriculum, and, as a result of high-quality pastoral care, pupils at Outwood Academy City are safe and well-cared for. Come and take a look at what we offer, and see if you could be a part of our team - #WeAreCity and we are striving for excellence. We love what we do, and we welcome enthusiastic, dedicated and hard-working people, whatever your experience, to join us on our mission.
We are proud to be part of the Outwood Family, a Trust renowned for its commitment to transforming lives and raising standards. If you share our passion for making a real difference in the lives of young people, we would be delighted to welcome you to our team.
We believe this transformation is due to our knowledge-rich curriculum, designed to personalise learning for every student, and our exceptionally high standards, helping all students to reach their potential. We have won numerous awards as a school and are an IQM Centre of Excellence, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded the Gold Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award.
As we continue to improve, help to take us to the next level.
The Art department at Outwood Academy City is situated in the heart of the academy with two large sunny rooms plus a dedicated clay room with adjacent kiln and store. A short distance away, there is a separate Art 1-2-1 space which houses small group interventions
Art is very popular with students at City, and when they opt for the subject, they expect to do well. Art and photography results have been historically strong with Art students achieving significantly higher progress than other subjects. There are currently two Art teachers and a part-time technician/intervention tutor.
