We are growing our new Scaffolding Division and are looking for a motivated, hard-working labourer to join the team from the ground up.
THE ROLE
As a Scaffolding Labourer (COTS), you will be an essential member of a three-person scaffolding team, working alongside an Advanced Scaffolder (Part 2) and a Part 1 Scaffolder under the direction of our Scaffolding Manager. Based in and around the North West, you will support the team in the erection, alteration, and dismantling of tube and fitting scaffold on social housing reactive maintenance and planned works contracts.
This role is ideal for someone who holds their CISRS COTS card and is looking to build a long-term career in scaffolding within a structured, professional environment. SSR Roofing is committed to the development of our people — for the right candidate, this role offers a genuine pathway towards your CISRS Part 1 Scaffolder qualification.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assist in the erection, alteration, and dismantling of tube and fitting scaffold structures under the direct supervision and instruction of the Advanced Scaffolder.
* Handle, sort, and pass scaffold materials safely and efficiently on the ground and on the working platform as directed by the lead scaffolder.
* Support the safe unloading, handling, and distribution of scaffold materials from the company vehicle, ensuring proper manual handling techniques are followed at all times.
* Maintain the work area in a clean, tidy, and hazard-free condition throughout the working day, including clearing debris and stacking components correctly.
* Participate in toolbox talks, site briefings, and RAMS review before work commences, demonstrating understanding of the site-specific risks.
* Assist with the loading and securing of scaffold materials on the vehicle at the start and end of each working day.
* Report any damaged, defective, or missing equipment to the Advanced Scaffolder immediately and do not use any item that appears unsafe.
* Conduct yourself professionally when on site, particularly when working in and around occupied residential properties.
* Adhere to all SSR Roofing health and safety policies, PPE requirements, and site rules at all times.
* Actively engage with any training opportunities provided, working towards your CISRS Part 1 Scaffolder qualification.
REQUIREMENTS
* Valid CISRS COTS (Construction Operative Training Scheme) Labourer card — essential.
* A genuine interest in pursuing a career in scaffolding — this is a development role.
* Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks in all weather conditions.
* Reliable, punctual, and willing to follow instruction from the lead scaffolder and Scaffolding Manager.
* Full UK driving licence (preferred — desirable but not essential).
* A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn on the job.
* Comfortable working at height and in a variety of residential and commercial site environments.
