We’re looking for a dynamic and committed PE HLTA to lead on all physical activity across our school, helping every learner – regardless of ability – develop confidence, wellbeing and a love for movement.
About the Role
As our new PE HLTA, you will:
1. Lead and deliver engaging, inclusive PE sessions and physical activities across all age groups
2. Work closely with Class Community Leads and support staff to promote active participation for all learners, including those with SEND
3. Foster independence, build self-esteem, and support pupils in achieving personal and physical milestones
4. Use creative, safe and inclusive approaches to support learning through sport and activity
You will also:
5. Help plan, prepare and evaluate learning activities within your subject area
6. Support and lead small groups or full classes under the guidance of a teacher
7. Play an important role in whole-school wellbeing, behaviour support and inclusion
8. Maintain a safe, supportive and stimulating learning environment
9. Contribute positively to the wider life and ethos of the school
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with:
10. A Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
11. Experience working with children, ideally within an SEN or inclusive learning environment
12. Good organisational and communication skills
13. A passion for physical activity and the ability to adapt sessions to a wide range of learners
14. Strong behaviour management skills and knowledge of safeguarding procedures
15. A calm, positive and enthusiastic approach
16. A willingness to complete the HLTA qualification within the first year (if not already held)
About Us
Kestrel House School is a specialist SEN school located in Crouch End, Haringey Borough. We support pupils aged 5–16 with autism and associated communication and learning challenges. Just a short walk from an Overground station and served by multiple bus routes, the school is well connected for commuters.
