We are currently seeking a Utility Mapping Surveyor to join our growing Geospatial team. This role involves leading on-site utility detection and mapping surveys using a variety of advanced techniques and producing accurate deliverables in accordance with industry standards such as PAS 128. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in underground utility surveying and be confident working independently and collaboratively on a variety of high-profile projects.
As a Utility Surveyor at Ridge, you will benefit from on job learning experiences whilst working on prestigious projects. Our projects include large residential, industrial and commercial schemes with contract values over £30 million to much smaller schemes. You will also work with interesting clients including, large retail companies, local authorities, Schools/Universities, contractors, developers etc together with the option to work on exciting overseas projects.

Key Responsibilities
* Plan, manage, and undertake underground utility surveys using Electromagnetic Location (EML) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
* Collect data using Total Station and GPS/GNSS observations
* Produce accurate utility drawings and models using AutoCAD and associated survey software
* Deliver surveys in accordance with PAS 128 and client-specific requirements
* Perform site reconnaissance, risk assessments, and implement safe working practices
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil engineers, architects, and planners
* Manage project data, field notes, and equipment logs with attention to quality and detail
* Mentor junior team members and support their technical development
* Maintain and calibrate a range of surveying instruments and detection tools
* Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties that may arise
The skills and experience you need to have for this role
* Significant experience, preferably with relevant qualifications
* Experience of working with various sub-surface mapping techniques including GPR, electromagnetic location and drainage surveys
* Experience of working to PAS128 standards, collecting and post-processing of GPR data
* Previous experience of working with land surveyors and topographical surveys
* Experience of working with AutoCAD and/or other geospatial processing software
* The ability to work both alone and as part of our survey team
* The ability to check and critically evaluate work done by others
* The ability and desire to train others and promote survey best practices
* Full clean diving license is required - travel for work purposes is provided via company vehicle
The role requires a combination of working within a team office environment whilst also working outdoors on a range of sites. There is a requirement to travel to sites and sometimes work away from home for stretches of time. Depending on the site and how it is being used you may be required to work shifts or out of hours.
