Job Description:
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join NHS Dumfries and Galloway’s Acute & Diagnostic Administration Services Team as a Clerical Officer / Audio Typist on a secondment or fixed term contract. The post holder will transcribe from digital dictation, letters, reports, and discharge summaries for patients from outpatient clinics, patients discharged from wards, and other outpatient appointments. They will also maintain patient records. Other duties include dealing with incoming calls, mail, scanning, and electronic filing of patient information, ensuring electronic files for all patient reports, letters, and general correspondence are up to date and accessible to the clinical team for decision-making and support, thereby maximizing effective use of time.
Based within both DGRI and Mountainhall Treatment Centre (MHTC), the post holder will provide administrative and clerical support, liaising with multi-discipline clinical teams and administration colleagues. The successful candidate should be a team player with a flexible ‘can do’ attitude, as they will assist in various areas depending on service level objectives. We are looking for good communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, enthusiasm, and commitment, which should be demonstrated in the application form and at interview.
This post will be supported by colleagues, a Team Leader, an Administration Services Co-ordinator, and an Administration Services Manager.
This is a fixed-term/secondment position until June 2026.
Note: A typing/audio test will be conducted at interview. Candidates must attend in person; remote interviews via Teams are not available.
