Job Description:
At MCS Group, we're working with a leading retail and wholesale group to recruit an Assistant Trading Manager to support the delivery of commercial growth and profitability across a key product portfolio.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected organisation known for its people-first culture and strong market presence across Ireland and the UK.
The Role:
As Assistant Trading Manager, you'll play a key part in managing product categories, supporting supplier negotiations, and delivering strategic promotional activity. This is a commercially focused role with a strong cross-functional element, involving collaboration with marketing, sales, supply chain, and own-brand teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and optimise a defined product portfolio in line with market trends and business strategy
Conduct regular range reviews and develop seasonal supply plans
Analyse performance data and market insights to drive category growth
Support price negotiations and supplier engagement to ensure best value and service
Contribute to the development of promotional plans, pricing strategies, and profitability targets
Build effective internal and external relationships to support end-to-end supply chain performance
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience in a trading, buying, or category management role (FMCG or retail preferred)
Strong commercial acumen with a data-led decision-making approach
Strong organisational and communication skills
