The role
You will take projects from pre acquisition through to delivery, handover and appraisal, working in a hands-on, self-delivery environment rather than a purely real estate or investment-led setting.
This role suits someone who enjoys being deep in the detail, understands how buildings are actually constructed, and wants to develop their career in phases, rather than being boxed into a static role.
Key responsibilities
* Manage residential developments from pre-acquisition and feasibility
* Lead on planning strategy, consultant appointments and coordination
* Oversee design development with a strong technical focus
* Drive schemes through procurement, construction and delivery
* Work closely with internal and external teams on self-delivered projects
* Manage budgets, programmes and risk throughout the development lifecycle
* Take schemes through handover, final accounts and post completion appraisals
* Run your own projects with full accountability
Background & experience
* Proven experience delivering residential development projects, ideally including student accommodation
* Currently working in, or transitioned from, a technical or delivery-led role (for example development, building surveying, quantity surveying, architecture or engineering)
* Strong understanding of how buildings are designed, detailed and constructed
* Demonstrate experience in a self-delivery environment or dealt with contractors/ self delivering developers, rather than purely investment or asset management
* Experienced in managing projects end to end, with responsibility for cost, programme, risk and consultants
* Comfortable engaging with technical detail and resolving issues through design and delivery
* Able to work autonomously and run your own projects
* Experience taking schemes through planning, construction, handover and post-completion
