An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our nursing team based at the surgery in Ballachulish.

You will be responsible for all nursing within the Practice which includes running Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, CKD clinics and New Patient Medicals. You will be required to look after all vaccinations including childhood immunisations, all Minor Injuries which present to the Practice and to provide assistance in Minor Surgery. In addition you will manage the Health Care Assistant who will run 3 blood clinics a week and also any other adhoc nursing requirements.

We are a busy rural practice with 1600 patients and numbers still growing. We provide a full support service to our patients and the Practice Nurse is fundamental in providing a comprehensive service to our patients with chronic conditions and in the management of minor injuries.

You must have a first level registration with NMC with demonstrable post registration experience as a Primary Nurse, have clear evidence of continuous professional development, nursing prescriber desirable. You much have the ability to work independently and as part of a team as well as having excellent communication shills.

This is a permanent 17.5 hours per week post, worked in accordance with service requirements.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
