We are currently recruiting for a Food Technology Technician in Cookstown. The successful candidates will be required to start once the vetting paperwork, ANI clearance has been completed.

Duration: 6 months
Rate of pay: £17.43
Hours of work: 9 to 5 Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities:
The post holder will report to the Food Technology Centre Manager within the Food Technology Branch. The successful candidates will be required to undertake technical and operational support duties in respect of knowledge and technology transfer and formal education programmes. They will be required to work at various locations within Loughry Campus.
The duties and responsibilities of the post will include: –
Effective management, maintenance, and operation of a range of food processing equipment and building services
Instruction, supervision and assessment of individuals and groups in the use of food processing equipment and systems
Provision of agreed technical support and training to commercial food businesses
Effective management, monitoring, recording, and assisting with the development of quality and operational systems, procedures, and instrumentation
Effective operation and maintenance of storage facilities and associated stock control systems
Driving college vehicles within the campus; and
Carrying out any other relevant duties in line with the business needs of Food Technology Development Branch/CAFRE/DAERA.
Essential Criteria applicants must have:
Proof of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths grade C or above and 3 A-levels or the equivalent to this.
Applicants must possess or expect to obtain by the closing date for applications:
1. At least a Level 3 qualification e.g., National Diploma / National Certificate in Food Technology, Engineering, or a closely related discipline*
AND
2. At least 1 year relevant ** post-qualification experience of operating or maintaining processing equipment in a food manufacturing or related environment
AND
3. A full current driving license enabling the license holder to drive in Northern Ireland.
*Closely related disciplines are defined as programmes which include modules in food processing systems and food manufacturing technology.
**Relevant experience is defined as experience of any of the following:
Food and drink product manufacturing equipment added value food production systems or engineering plant related to food processing systems.
Applications will also be considered from applicants with relevant formal qualifications considered by the selection panel to be of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
Relevant or equivalent qualifications: give the type of qualification and date awarded (the date awarded is the date on which you were notified of your result by the official awarding body). If you believe your qualification is equivalent to the one required, the onus is on you to provide the panel with details of modules studied etc so that a well-informed decision can be made.
Excellent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Excellent communication skills.
Proven ability to use own initiative.
