Applications Support Analyst

The closing date is 18 March 2026

Applications Support Analyst Band 4 – 37.5 hours – Maglona house.

As part of the Digital Healthcare team, Applications are responsible for the delivery and maintenance of corporate and clinical applications to support safe and effective patient care whilst delivering the digital strategy.

We are looking for a highly motivated problem solver who thrives under pressure and has a passion for customer service.

You will provide second line support of clinical applications including incident management, request fulfilment, problem management, monitoring, change & release management and decommissioning.

The role is full time, permanent at 37.5 hours per week. The role offers hybrid working, following a trial period of 3 months. Candidates must be able to attend the office 50% of the time. The ability to participate in an on‑call service is essential. Applicants must be within 30 minutes of one of our two main sites at Carlisle or Whitehaven.

Applicants must be able to attend in person for interview if selected for the second round.


Main duties of the job

* Provide support for clinical applications, troubleshooting issues reported by users and fulfil requests
* Monitor applications proactively to identify potential problems
* Liaise with third‑party suppliers to escalates and resolve issues and requests.
* Assist in the testing of new functionality and updates.
* Document support activities
* Participate in application upgrades and change management processes.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Educated to diploma or ECDL level or equivalent experience in delivering and supporting IT systems or applications
* ITIL Foundation


Skills

* Confidence and capability to deal with staff at all levels of an organisation
* High levels of computer literacy
* Ability to learn quickly, cope under pressure and prioritise own workload
* Logical, flexible and enthusiastic
* Team player
* Positive attitude to change
* Presentation Skills


Knowledge and Experience

* Understanding of application purposes and requirements in a clinical environment e.g. Patient Administration System (PAS), Electronic Patient Records (EPRs)
* Experience using Microsoft Office
* Working across multiple organisations and in multi‑disciplinary teams
* Working with external suppliers and providers
* Supporting multiple applications
* Experience of supporting applications in a clinical setting
* Acceptance of applications into service
* Basic system administration of applications
* Working in a technical environment with a Service Desk and associated tools
* Working within an environment that applies the ITIL Service Management framework
* Working knowledge of the NHS


Other Requirements

* Willing to travel
* Ability to work as part of a team as well as alone
* Willing to undertake personal developmentFlexible approach and willingness to work outside normal hours to meet service demands
* Participation in the Digital on‑call team on rota basis as service requires
