Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview
The role of the Mechanical Engineer is to provide technical and economical solutions for new product design expectations within the project. You will collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that the switchgear design meets product requirement specifications. The role reports directly to the Design Program Manager.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop new designs, cost reductions, and design modifications that will assure product and technology leadership in accordance with the company’s strategic plan.
* Interface with cross‑functional teams including Project Managers and R&D Engineers during product development and enhancement to ensure that customer VOC are fed into the design.
* Prepare project‐level and product documentation based on the requirements.
* Document product robustness using simulations, analysis, and testing methods.
* Arrange design reviews, analyse concepts, and evaluate the cost effectiveness of the hardware designs.
* Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing; assist Purchasing on supplier selection and component evaluation.
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (first degree preferred) or equivalent industry experience.
* Demonstrable experience in managing collaborative R&D projects; strong project management, organisational and leadership skills.
* Strong background in Mechanical Design.
* Experience in Medium Voltage ANSI/IEC Switchboard/Switchgear/MCC design.
* Knowledge of ANSI/IEC/IEEE standards.
