Finance Officer (Temporary, Sept 2025 March 2026) Hybrid, Central London Contract:Fixed-term, Full-time (36.5 hours/week) Monday to Friday Location:Hybrid working minimum 1 day onsite per week (currently Tuesdays) at Science Library Start Date:1st September 2025 Application Deadline:Friday, 23 August 2025 About the Role Pertemps is recruiting on behalf of a prestigious London university for a Finance Officer to join the Library, Culture, Collections and Open Science (LCCOS) Finance Team. This six-month fixed-term role supports the departments daily finance operations, month-end reporting, budget monitoring, and stakeholder engagement. You will help maintain accurate financial transactions and reporting while acting as a key liaison between the department and central finance teams. Key Responsibilities: Assist with monthly management reports, prepayments, accruals, and variance analysis Approve purchase orders, journals, and interdepartmental transfers Process invoices and ensure timely payments Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders on procurement and finance matters Provide cover for team members and assist with training colleagues on finance systems Maintain finance documentation and respond promptly to mailbox queries What We're Looking For: Experience in daily finance operations with exceptional attention to detail Proactive, positive team player with strong collaboration skills Proficient user of Oracle or similar finance systems Ability to adapt and work reliably within a flexible, hybrid environment Essential Qualifications & Skills: Minimum 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English) and A Levels (2 passes at grade C or above) or equivalent Proven experience in finance administration, including use of large finance systems Confident Excel user (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP) Strong numeracy, accuracy, and organisational abilities Effective communication skills, particularly for non-finance audiences Desirable: Experience in higher education or publishing finance roles Familiarity with systems such as MyFinance, Axiom, ALMA, Salesforce Part-qualified or studying towards ACCA or CIMA Budget forecasting experience Benefits: Hybrid working arrangement offering flexible working patterns Experience within a leading global university environment Supportive and innovative team culture How to Apply: If you meet the requirements and want to gain valuable experience within a prestigious institution, please apply now.
