Production Supervisor (Shift)
Location: Middlesbrough
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday – rotating shifts 06:00–14:30 -13:30–22:00
Salary: £38,000 per annum + 15% shift allowance (£43,700 total)
Jackson Hogg is supporting a rapidly growing, family-owned manufacturing business in Middlesbrough with the appointment of an experienced Production Supervisor (Shift). The Role
As Production Supervisor, you will lead a shop-floor operation producing bespoke, high-quality products within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for managing a shift team of 20–30 operators, supported by Team Leaders, ensuring production targets are achieved safely, efficiently, and right first time.
This is a hands-on leadership role, requiring a proactive approach, strong people management skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Lead by example to ensure safe working practices are maintained and continuously improved
*
Manage day-to-day shop floor operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people targets
*
Set, monitor, and react to variances in production performance
*
Ensure required quality standards are achieved, meeting RFT and OTIF targets
*
Coach, develop, and engage Team Leaders and operators to unlock full team potential
*
Drive a continuous improvement culture using Lean CI methodologies and structured problem-solving
*
Lead and support improvement projects, ensuring delivery on time and in full
*
Promote Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to maximise equipment availability
*
Liaise closely with HR, Supply Chain, Planning, Maintenance, Sales, Customer Service, and Finance
*
Manage attendance, timekeeping, shift coverage, and early-stage disciplinary processes
*
Deliver Toolbox Talks, safety briefings, and ensure compliance with company policies
*
Ensure all internal and external audit requirements are met
Experience Required
*
3–5 years’ experience in a production leadership role within a manufacturing environment
*
Proven track record of leading teams of 20–30 employees across shift patterns
*
Strong safety leadership with experience working towards an injury-free workplace
*
Demonstrated ability to deliver sustained productivity and cost improvements
*
Strong employee engagement, coaching, and stakeholder management skills
*
Experience using Root Cause Analysis (RCA / RCT) to proactively address issues
*
Confident communicator with the ability to drive change while maintaining engagement
Qualifications & Training
*
Minimum 2 years’ experience using Lean CI tools to drive measurable improvements
*
Experience handling disciplinary and grievance processes
*
Numerate with strong data analysis skills
*
Competent with Microsoft Office
*
BTEC Higher Professional Diploma or NVQ Level 4
*
IOSH Health & Safety Management qualification – desirable
*
Experience within a stone or high-precision manufacturing environment – desirable
