Children & Young Person's Domestic Abuse Support Practitioner

£24,329 a year
As a Children and Young Person Practitioner, you’ll deliver group programmes and one-to-one support to children and young people affected by domestic abuse. Based within our client's safe accommodation service, you’ll also identify additional support needs, manage any safeguarding concerns and work within a multi-agency framework to deliver the best service possible.
Job requirements
* Work within their Children and Young Person Service, based in safe accommodation, to identify children’s individual support needs and provide a tailored support package, ensuring safeguarding responsibilities are undertaken.
* Deliver age appropriate 1-2-1 / group support via a range of social, therapeutic, learning and development activities, that meet identified needs.
* Work as part of a multi-agency response to meet the identified needs of children and young people (CYP). This might include providing reports for, or attending, meetings (e.g. MARAC and CYP conferences) and advocating for CYP so that agencies understand and meet their needs.
* Support the CYP to engage with both internal and external agencies to access services and help develop skills so they can achieve their goals.
* Produce focused and purposeful safety planning with aims of desired outcomes, building confidence, self-esteem, and knowledge of safe and unsafe relationships.
* Assist with delivery of presentations or workshops as required.
* Be committed to continuous learning and improvement, keeping abreast of the ever-changing pressures that children and young people face particularly around online safety and social media.
What they’re looking for
* A good standard of education, for example GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
* NVQ Level 2 in Children and Young People, or equivalent.
* Experience working with children and young people, or families.
* Working knowledge of child protection legislation and guidance relating to children and young people.
* An understanding of the complexities surrounding domestic abuse and safeguarding.
* An understanding of the impact that domestic abuse has on children and young people.
* Good communication skills with the ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative.
* Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise high risk cases.
* Able to keep clear, concise and factual recordings of sessions.
* Able to work effectively with other professionals and agencies.
* A full UK driving licence and a vehicle suitable for business use.
* DBS check.
