About the Role

An established and growing organisation is looking for a SQL Developer to join their data team, working across database administration (DBA), data engineering (DE), and business intelligence (BI).

This role is ideal for a mid-level professional or a junior developer with solid SQL skills who’s ready to progress. You’ll be involved in a variety of data-focused tasks, building hands-on experience with production systems, data pipelines, and reporting, while continuing to strengthen your technical expertise.

SQL will be central to the role, with opportunities to take on increasing ownership and complexity over time.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration (DBA)

* Support the management, maintenance, and optimisation of relational databases
* Write and refine SQL queries to ensure performance and reliability
* Monitor query performance and assist in troubleshooting issues
* Support indexing strategies and database tuning activities
* Assist with backup, recovery, and data integrity processes
* Work across production and non-production environments

Data Engineering (DE)

* Build and maintain SQL-based ETL/ELT processes
* Support the development of data pipelines and scheduled workflows
* Transform raw data into structured, analytics-ready datasets
* Assist with data modelling (e.g. fact and dimension tables)
* Integrate data from multiple sources into centralised datasets
* Help maintain data quality and consistency

Business Intelligence (BI)

* Develop SQL views, stored procedures, and reporting datasets
* Support dashboard and reporting requirements
* Translate business needs into clear and efficient SQL logic
* Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, scalable, and reusable
* Contribute to consistent KPI definitions and data usage

Key Skills & Experience:

* Strong SQL skills (joins, subqueries, aggregations, window functions)
* Experience working with relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, or similar)
* Good understanding of data structures and query performance considerations
* Ability to troubleshoot and optimise SQL queries
* Experience working with real-world datasets (academic, internship, or commercial)

Offers Several Attractive Benefits:

* Exposure across DBA, data engineering, and BI within a single role
* Hands-on experience with production databases and live data systems
* Opportunities to develop strong SQL and performance tuning skills
* Gradual increase in responsibility and technical ownership
* Experience working with business stakeholders and real reporting needs
* Exposure to modern data platforms and cloud technologies (where applicable)
* Clear progression into Data Engineering, Database Engineering, or BI-focused roles

Ideal Candidate Profile

This organisation is open to both:

* Mid-level SQL developers looking to broaden their experience, and
* Junior developers with a strong foundation who are ready to step up
