About the Role
An established and growing organisation is looking for a SQL Developer to join their data team, working across database administration (DBA), data engineering (DE), and business intelligence (BI).
This role is ideal for a mid-level professional or a junior developer with solid SQL skills who’s ready to progress. You’ll be involved in a variety of data-focused tasks, building hands-on experience with production systems, data pipelines, and reporting, while continuing to strengthen your technical expertise.
SQL will be central to the role, with opportunities to take on increasing ownership and complexity over time.
Key Responsibilities:
Database Administration (DBA)
* Support the management, maintenance, and optimisation of relational databases
* Write and refine SQL queries to ensure performance and reliability
* Monitor query performance and assist in troubleshooting issues
* Support indexing strategies and database tuning activities
* Assist with backup, recovery, and data integrity processes
* Work across production and non-production environments
Data Engineering (DE)
* Build and maintain SQL-based ETL/ELT processes
* Support the development of data pipelines and scheduled workflows
* Transform raw data into structured, analytics-ready datasets
* Assist with data modelling (e.g. fact and dimension tables)
* Integrate data from multiple sources into centralised datasets
* Help maintain data quality and consistency
Business Intelligence (BI)
* Develop SQL views, stored procedures, and reporting datasets
* Support dashboard and reporting requirements
* Translate business needs into clear and efficient SQL logic
* Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, scalable, and reusable
* Contribute to consistent KPI definitions and data usage
Key Skills & Experience:
* Strong SQL skills (joins, subqueries, aggregations, window functions)
* Experience working with relational databases (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, or similar)
* Good understanding of data structures and query performance considerations
* Ability to troubleshoot and optimise SQL queries
* Experience working with real-world datasets (academic, internship, or commercial)
