An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit an inspiring and innovative Senior Charge Nurse for Ward 4, Queen Margaret Hospital. This is an inpatient ward which provides multidisciplinary care and ongoing assessment for individuals diagnosed with dementia who have complex, often co-existing, physical and psychological care requirements. This is an exciting time in NHS Fife to be part of the Health and Social Care Partnership as we continue to develop and configure our Mental health services to meet current and future service needs. As an integral leader of the multi-disciplinary team the post holder has responsibility for clinical leadership, managing and supporting the ongoing team development to fulfil the key functions of the Senior Charge Nurse. In particular the post holder will be responsible for the safe and effective deployment and management of the clinical resource. This is to ensure robust risk assessment/risk management, implementation of complex programmes of care using a strength based approach that proactively involves the person, their care partners and optimises involvement of the multidisciplinary team and wider older adult services. You will be required to undertake caseload management and line management responsibilities of ward staff. They will have overall responsibility for monitoring the clinical activity related to key performance indicators. They will have lead responsibility for all clinical governance activity and monitoring which includes care assurance, quality standards, compliance, professional regulation, responding to complaints, staff governance, clinical supervision, legislative frameworks and national and board policy/guidelines. You will have responsibility for the delivery of prescribed care and treatment, and for the assessment, planning, implementation and review of nursing prescribed care. You will participate in the duty senior nurse rota for the hospital. The post holder must be 1st level Registered Mental Health Nurse with experience in staff management. Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant post registration experience and evidence of continuous professional development. A management or leadership qualification is desirable or a willingness to work towards that level. A desire and commitment to support the Lead Nurse and Clinical Service Manager by contributing to health and social care agenda, leading on professional practice and service improvements to ensure safe effective person centred care delivery are an important aspect to this role. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected. A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme Prior to appointment.
