Are you an experienced professional seeking to advance your career at one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities? Do you have a passion for developing high-quality research and fostering innovation?
We are looking for a confident and proactive individual to implement the Bragg Centre's research and innovation strategy, enhance its reputation, research impact, and build internal and external partnerships.
As the Manager of the Bragg Centre for Materials Research, you will drive engagement, collaboration, and cohesion within the advanced materials research community at Leeds, comprising over 400 members. Working alongside the Director and guided by the management committee and external advisory board, you will set and translate the Centre's strategic direction, establishing it as a hub for world-leading materials research and engineering. You will also co-develop new initiatives with the Henry Royce Institute of Advanced Materials, of which Leeds is a founding partner.
Your responsibilities include leading promotional, communication, and engagement strategies to maximize research impact. You will develop and strengthen relationships with other research Centres and Institutes at the University of Leeds, creating a network of research and innovation strengths.
The role involves management, engagement, reporting, administrative duties, and supporting public engagement and schools outreach. You will be supported by a Centre Administrator and Communications Officer, whom you will line manage. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders across and beyond the University, including senior management, academics, industry partners, marketing and communications teams, facility managers, technical officers, and research professionals.
Applicants should demonstrate proven leadership and management experience, preferably within Higher Education or equivalent, with the ability to develop strategies for the Centre's long-term sustainability. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with initiative, creativity, and diplomatic problem-solving abilities, are essential.
