Main duties of the job
As a Senior Digital Developer, you will develop and deploy world-class Digital services, application software and database services according to NHSBT corporate business plan using the most appropriate tools and technologies from those approved by the Head of OTDT Product Centre. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Produce and maintain high-quality documentation for all NHSBT and in-house applications.
2. Research emerging technologies, products, and tools, highlighting opportunities and advantages to the Head of OTDT PC and wider team.
3. Maintain and improve existing applications by gathering requirements, identifying enhancements, and facilitating workshops.
4. Support the Head of OTDT PC in developing NHSBT’s digital and development strategy, aligned with organisational goals and values.
5. Promote analytical and technical skill development through training and guidance for OTDT PC and NHSBT staff.
6. Advise on and support procurement, implementation, and management of third-party systems, working with suppliers to ensure effective integration with NHSBT systems.
7. Collaborate with the Business Intelligence and Data Management Department to deliver software, database solutions, and technical support.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice
About You
Experience and Knowledge
8. Direct proven experience of software development methodologies and database design, in the Oracle PL/SQL & Oracle APEX.
9. Extensive knowledge and experience of the design, development, management and maintenance of information systems across an organisation.
10. Specialised knowledge of software architectures across a wide range of industry standard platforms.
11. Experience of working with information technology using Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint)
Qualifications and Training
12. MSc or Advanced knowledge and substantial proven experience to Masters level in software development, with experience in:
Oracle SQL Complex Queries, PL/SQL (both stored objects and anonymous), Advanced Queues, ORDS & Oracle APEX
13. Other Mandatory SkillsEstimation methodsAgile / Lean and Traditional MethodologiesHTML, JavaScript, JQueryXML, XSD, JSONAPEXSecKnowledge on the Mulesoft API integration is desirable
