It is an essential requirement within DNWP framework that all staff hold appropriate security clearance and the Security Vetting team perform a vital role in assisting staff to apply for and renew relevant security clearances and passes. The role will involve working as part of the Amentum Security Vetting team, predominantly to assist Amentum and our Sub‑contractor partnerships to apply for new security clearance and site passes, to assist with renewals and work with the Amentum Security Controller on other security related tasks.
Responsibilities
* Preparing new applications, following new staff/individuals being identified by a project, assisting to initiate the application process, issuing forms, requesting relevant documents, completing and checking applications, including ensuring queries are answered in a timely manner.
* Preparing renewals – identifying staff/individuals who require renewals from the database, issuing forms and following up to ensure timely renewals.
* Performing progress monitoring, ensuring the relevant records are accurately updated, checking progress and monitoring that forms are returned to the required deadlines, and making follow‑up calls to staff/individuals when required.
* Attending regular security team meetings.
* Assisting with GDPR compliance checks on the data held.
* Compliance checking, assisting the team to run regular checks to ensure that all staff/individuals working on the projects are correctly cleared.
* Drafting security notices and issuing them.
* Assisting the security team with other security tasks, e.g., organising training and requesting IT accounts.
* Liaising with the wider support team on the DNWP framework – e.g., Resourcing, Amentum in‑house security team.
Qualifications
* Demonstrable experience managing personnel security clearances within a licensed nuclear site, ensuring compliance with site, client, and regulatory requirements.
* Experience processing and administering Security Appraisal Forms and vetting documentation (e.g., BPSS, SC or equivalent), maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and audit readiness.
* Previous experience supporting workforce throughout security clearance and upgrade processes, acting as a knowledgeable point of contact and resolving issues efficiently.
* Maintained and controlled security and workforce data via daily updated spreadsheets and records, ensuring data integrity and adherence to information security requirements.
* Experience liaising with multi‑disciplinary teams (construction, engineering, safety, HR, security, and management) to meet administrative and site access requirements.
* Previous experience working closely with the management team to promote and maintain a strong nuclear safety culture within the office environment.
* Previously supported compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards, escalated and addressed issues in line with site procedures.
* Experience working in a highly regulated environment, with an understanding of the importance of governance, compliance, and procedural adherence.
* NVQ Level (or equivalent) in Business Administration or 3 years’ experience in Administration.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel, with experience handling sensitive and controlled information.
