New Role: Pastoral & Welfare Officer

Are you a Psychology Graduate dreaming of becoming an Educational Psychologist, Child Psychologist, Counsellor or SENDCo, but first need hands-on experience with young people?
Maybe you’ve been a SEN Teaching Assistant or Behaviour Support Officer and you’re ready for the next step in your career?
We’re working with a supportive secondary school in West Leeds looking for a Pastoral & Welfare Officer to join their pastoral and behaviour team.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll support students aged 11–16, helping with:
* Social, emotional & mental health
* Behavioural challenges
* Special educational needs
* Working with parents and external agencies
You’ll also manage a small cohort of students, focusing on welfare, behaviour, attendance, and attainment—all within a friendly, supportive team.
What we’re looking for
* Experience supporting young people with SEMH and/or SEND
* Ideally some school-based experience (but all youth support experience is considered!)
* Compassion, resilience, and a genuine desire to make a difference
The details
* Full-time, Monday–Friday (8:30am–4:15pm)
* Term-time only, following the local authority calendar
