We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and experienced SEN Teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Chelmsford, starting ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and helping them achieve their full potential both academically and personally. The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a well-established SEN provision, supporting pupils with a wide range of needs, including autism spectrum conditions (ASC), ADHD, SEMH challenges, and moderate learning difficulties. Staff work closely with the SENCO, teaching assistants, and external professionals to deliver personalised learning plans and targeted interventions. As an SEN Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils, ensuring they can access the curriculum and make meaningful progress. You will also provide pastoral support and help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and social skills in a structured and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver differentiated lessons for pupils with SEN Implement strategies and interventions from EHCPs and individual support plans Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress using appropriate tools Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development Work closely with the SENCO, teaching assistants, and class teachers Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure consistent support Provide guidance to teaching assistants as required Maintain accurate records and contribute to SEN reviews and meetings Promote an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) Have experience teaching pupils with SEN in a school setting Have a strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices Be patient, resilient, and empathetic Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, organised, and reflective in practice Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing The school is located in Chelmsford, with excellent transport links and a supportive, friendly community.
