Senior Radiographer – Oxford
Job overview
Hours: Monday to Sunday, 36 hours a week (3x12-hour shifts). This role supports a new Community Diagnostic Centre in Oxford, working across MRI and CT to expand diagnostic radiography services for the NHS.
Responsibilities
* Ensure patients receive the best standard of care and high‑quality images to support their healthcare pathway.
* Deliver an effective and professional service in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
* Carry out modality‑specific imaging procedures in MRI and CT to best‑practice standards.
* Provide a great patient experience, supporting them from referral to results.
* Run quality assurance checks on equipment and act appropriately.
* Respect and work within patients’ and service users' customs, values and spiritual beliefs.
* Perform triage functions for referrals as required.
* Support patient bookings and keep patient information systems accurate and up‑to‑date.
* Complete competency assessments.
* Adhere to all operational procedures.
* Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
* Act as a practice educator, assisting placement students and colleagues to achieve learning outcomes.
* Share knowledge and clinical experience with the wider team to support collective growth.
Candidate profile
* BSc in Radiography or equivalent.
* Membership of an appropriate professional body with a valid HCPC registration.
* Strong understanding of fundamental MRI and CT physics and scanning techniques.
* Proven knowledge of the radiographer role regarding patient care and colleague support.
* High level of professionalism and technical standard of work.
* Aptitude for improving quality and patient safety.
* Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
* Understanding of the Data Protection Act, Caldicott Principles and GDPR.
* Flexibility to work across seven days (Mon-Sun).
* Strong team-player attitude, supportive, caring, reliable and trustworthy.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure in a busy environment.
* Positive, proud and passionate about the service delivered.
Experience
* Working with MRI and CT equipment in hospital or mobile settings.
* Experience in routine and complex MRI and CT examinations.
* Completion of courses such as infection control, manual handling and basic life support.
* Scanning with contrast agents.
* Knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures for imaging equipment.
* Previous multidisciplinary teamwork.
* Supporting the development and training of other team members.
