Specialist Teaching Assistant Level 3 – Resource Provision for Deaf Children and Young People
Location: The Crestwood School/Ashwood Park Primary
Contract: 32.5 hours/week (0.88 FTE)
Salary: Grade 6 + SEN Allowance
Are you ready to make a lasting impact in the lives of D/deaf children and young people?
We are offering two exciting opportunities to join our dedicated team as a Specialist Teaching Assistant working in one of Dudley’s Local Authority Enhanced Provisions for children and young people with severe or profound D/deafness.
The 12-place secondary provision is located at The Crestwood School and the 20 place primary provision is located at Ashwood Park Primary. We would welcome applicants to visit either of these provisions. Children and young people are fully included in mainstream education where appropriate while benefiting from tailored teaching sessions and enhanced classroom communication support.
We have opportunities at both of these settings; you are welcome to express an interest in a particular age group in your application.
As part of our passionate team — which includes Qualified Teachers of Deaf Children and Young People (QTODs) and Specialist Teaching Assistants — you'll deliver one-to-one and small-group support to nurture language development, listening skills, and access to the wider curriculum. Communication approaches, whether oral or SSE/BSL, are agreed in partnership with families to suit each child's unique needs.
We work closely with NHS audiology, the Cochlear Implant Centre, and parents to ensure every child receives the best listening experience possible — backed by the latest hearing technology.
