An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Designated Safeguarding Lead within our Walsall Team dedicated to protecting and promoting the welfare of children young people and vulnerable adults. This pivotal role will lead safeguarding practice across the service ensuring that robust systems are in place to identify assess and respond to safeguarding concerns effectively.
Walsalls safeguarding partnership services are committed to delivering high-quality trauma-informed support that keeps families together wherever it is safe and appropriate to do so. As the Designated Safeguarding Lead you will play a central role in shaping a culture of vigilance accountability and continuous improvement working closely with multi-agency partners to achieve the best outcomes for those at risk.

Salary Range
£35,220.59 - £37,184.91 (dependent on experience, based on full time hours)
* Full‑time hours at Change Grow Live are 37.5 hours per week. For part‑time roles the salary and payments will be pro rata based on contracted hours.
Responsibilities
* Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the service ensuring compliance with statutory safeguarding responsibilities.
* Provide expert safeguarding advice and guidance to staff and partners.
* Lead on safeguarding case management including oversight of referrals, risk assessments and safety planning.
* Attend and contribute to child protection conferences, core groups and strategy meetings.
* Deliver safeguarding training and reflective supervision to staff.
* Promote a culture of safeguarding awareness and best practice across the service.
* Liaise with local safeguarding partnerships including Children’s Services, Police and Health.
* Maintain accurate and timely records in line with information governance standards.
* Support continuous improvement in safeguarding practice through audit, learning reviews and policy development.
* Champion equality, diversity and inclusion in all safeguarding work.
About you
* Social Work qualified or substantial experience in safeguarding children and/or adults ideally in a leadership or advisory role.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, guidance and best practice.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and support others.
* Confident in multi‑agency working and representing the organisation at external meetings.
* Skilled in risk assessment, safety planning and case management.
* Committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
* Proficient in IT systems and record‑keeping.
* Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable children and families.
* Able to manage change successfully while prioritising the needs of service users.
* Willing to seek out learning opportunities and support the development of others.
