About the Role
Goffs-Churchgate Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of English to join our thriving school community starting in September 2026. Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging and well‑structured English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
* Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, ensuring all learners are supported to achieve their best.
* Develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
* Prepare students for GCSE examinations, ensuring high standards of achievement.
* Manage classroom behaviour effectively to create a safe and productive learning environment.
* Undertake pastoral responsibilities, including acting as a form tutor and supporting students’ academic and personal development.
* Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to support student success.
* Participate in extracurricular activities, such as school trips and clubs, to enrich the student experience.
* Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and contribute to the school’s continuous improvement.
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree relevant to English.
* Proven experience teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4, with a track record of good or outstanding outcomes (NQTs with strong potential are welcome to apply).
* A passion for teaching English and a commitment to inspiring a love of learning in students.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to use data effectively to inform lesson planning.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
