Job summary

A rare opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse to join Middlesbrough MHSOP Community Team working 15 hours per week.

This is a pivotal role within the team, and there is a variation which will allow you to develop and grow as a mental health nurse.

Candidates must have at least 18 months post qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework at the time of applying

There is an expectation that you will support students as part of your role. You should be competent to work as a practice assessor ideally or agree to work toward this within an agreed time frame.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

Main duties of the job

The role will be based within the 'functional' cell of the community mental health team. You will hold a caseload of patients who may have a range of mental health conditions requiring secondary mental health input. This may include but is not limited to depression, anxiety, psychosis, trauma.

We work collaboratively with our colleagues in adult mental health using the community transformation model to ensure that service users receive support from the most appropriate team. Generally, service uses accessing this service would have a secondary mental health need alongside some level of physical frailty which required specialist input.

You would be expected to support with duty so experience around community triage may be helpful. The team also runs the memory services for the area so it would be useful to have some knowledge of dementia to support with triage.
