The current opportunity is available for current Manchester Met students, to apply you must be based in the UK for the duration of the role., The School of Psychology and the Department of Computing and Mathematics is looking to recruit a Junior Game Designer. The role involves developing a top‑down 2D game that uses game mechanics and game narrative to reflect the player's emotional state. The game will help players of all backgrounds become better aware of handling their emotions and will educate them on Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT). The Junior Game Designer will be responsible for the design of User Interface for a demo within a set deadline, the successful student will have the opportunity to apply their own creative choices in the game, but you will be expected to work against a project specification. You will also work on refinements to the Player Experience, based on an iterative design process. You will be supervised and meet regularly with Dr John Henry and the rest of a research team that are investigating the use of games technology for Rational Emotional Behavioural Therapy. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their portfolios and experience in the games industry. Key Tasks Activities Plan and prioritise own work and resources, within research project framework, in order to determine the most effective way to achieve agreed research objectives. Use initiative and judgement to develop appropriate techniques in order to facilitate work and resolve problems affecting the achievement of objectives and deadlines. Liaison and Networking Present work and progress to the dev team. Team Working Actively participate as a member of the dev team.
