Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Family Legal Assistant to support our Family Law team. The successful candidate will assist solicitors with case preparation, client communication, document management, and administrative tasks related to family law matters including divorce, child custody, domestic violence, and financial settlements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide administrative and clerical support to family law solicitors.
* Draft legal documents such as petitions, statements, and court forms.
* Manage case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
* Liaise with clients, courts, and third parties via phone, email, and in person.
* Schedule appointments, hearings, and meetings.
* Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
* Assist with billing, time recording, and file closing procedures.
* Conduct basic legal research when required.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Previous experience in a legal assistant or administrative role (preferably in family law).
* Strong understanding of family law procedures and terminology.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
* Empathetic and professional approach to client care.
Desirable:
* Legal secretarial qualification or relevant law certification.
* Familiarity with court filing systems and e-filing platforms.
