We are working with a local authority in the North of England that are actively seeking to take on a Senior Town Planning Officer, to strengthen their team and support the delivery of a responsive, high-quality planning service. This is a brilliant opportunity to develop your leadership and technical expertise while contributing to decisions that have a lasting impact on communities and the wider Council. Our client will also consider experienced town planners who are looking for the next step in their career. As a Senior Planning Officer, you will manage your own caseload of applications, typically minor and small-scale major developments, providing professional advice, ensuring compliance with planning regulations, and contributing to high-quality decision-making. You will also support the Area Manager and Principal Planning Officer on more complex cases, mentor junior officers, and play a key role in delivering excellent customer service to applicants, stakeholders, and residents. Key priorities include: Managing and assessing a caseload of planning applications from pre-application through to decision. Preparing detailed professional reports and recommendations for committee consideration. Providing clear technical advice to applicants, agents, and colleagues. Engaging with communities and stakeholders to promote transparent, inclusive planning processes. Supporting appeals and representing the Council at hearings or inquiries. Mentoring and supporting Planning Officers to develop their skills and confidence.
