We are looking for a reliable and proactive Grounds and Site Maintenance Operative to join our team at BAE Systems Broad Oak. You will be responsible for keeping the site grounds maintained, supporting staff on site, and ensuring everything runs smoothly day to day.
What you will be doing:
1. Grounds care including mowing, strimming, sweeping, weeding and hedge cutting
2. Emptying bins and disposing of waste correctly
3. Assisting with deliveries and occasional movement of furniture or equipment
4. Working as part of a small, supportive team alongside the Site Manager
5. Following all Health and Safety standards at all times

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a reliable, proactive and hard-working Grounds and Site Maintenance Operative to join our Facilities Management team based at the BAE Systems Broad Oak site in Portsmouth.
This role is key to ensuring the external appearance, cleanliness and general day-to-day operation of the site is maintained to a high standard. You will work as part of a close-knit and supportive FM team, assisting with grounds maintenance, waste management and general site support duties across a busy and high-profile defence environment.
We are looking for someone with a positive attitude who takes pride in their work, enjoys practical and outdoor tasks, and is willing to support the wider team wherever required.
Key Responsibilities
Grounds Maintenance
12. Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers
13. Strimming around pathways, fencing and buildings
14. Hedge trimming and vegetation control
15. Sweeping roads, pathways and external areas
16. Weed control and general upkeep of landscaped areas
17. Seasonal duties including leaf clearance and winter support activities
Site Support Duties
18. Emptying external and internal bins and ensuring waste is disposed of correctly
19. Assisting with recycling and waste segregation processes
20. Supporting deliveries and movement of materials across site
21. Assisting with office moves, furniture relocation and minor manual handling tasks
22. Supporting engineers and site management with day-to-day operational activities
23. Maintaining site presentation and housekeeping standards
Health, Safety & Compliance
24. Following all Health & Safety procedures and site rules at all times
25. Operating equipment and tools safely and responsibly
26. Wearing and maintaining appropriate PPE
27. Reporting hazards, defects or safety concerns promptly
28. Working in accordance with safe systems of work and security requirements associated with a defence site environment
What We Are Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
29. Full UK driving licence
30. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
31. Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties
32. Good communication and teamwork skills
33. Reliable, punctual and self-motivated
34. Ability to work independently and use initiative when required
Desirable
35. Previous grounds maintenance, caretaking or facilities experience
36. Experience using grounds maintenance equipment and machinery
37. Waste management or recycling knowledge
38. Basic maintenance or handyman skills
