An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Underwriter to join our successful Regional Financial Lines team at Allianz. The role will be located in London, Maidstone, Chelmsford or Southampton, with a requirement of 3 days a week on site/in office.
We are seeking a talented, ambitious, and passionate underwriting professional to help us build a ‘Best in Industry’ team, setting the gold standard within the Allianz Group.
The role involves pricing risks, acquiring new business, analyzing claims data, implementing bespoke scheme arrangements, handling day-to-day broker queries, and managing renewal terms in compliance with regulations. You will develop broker relationships through regular visits and collaborate across departments to support our growth ambitions.
You will participate in the Global P&C Academy accreditation, enhancing your skills in underwriting, risk engineering, pricing, and claims management, while sharing best practices across Allianz. For pricing roles, Allianz Insurance offers a study package for the actuarial qualification through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK.
Our team values continuous learning, with free access to platforms like DataCamp, Databricks Academy, and LinkedIn Learning. We also host Lunch and Learn sessions, monthly insight sessions, and forums like the Data Science Forum to refine your technical skills.
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £45,000 per year, based on experience, skills, and location. Salary is part of a comprehensive reward package.
About You
As the Financial Lines Underwriter, your responsibilities will include:
* Providing excellent service to customers
* Building successful relationships with the Regional and UK Financial Lines Team
* Developing broker relationships
* Achieving financial performance targets
* Collaborating with other departments to ensure service delivery
* Processing renewals and mid-term adjustments
* Ensuring compliance in document dispatch to Brokers
* Focusing on broker relationships and new business growth
To succeed, you should have:
* Experience underwriting Professional Indemnity (PI) and/or Directors and Officers (D&O)
* Negotiation skills within authority limits
* A proven track record as a confident negotiator
* Ability to build and maintain broker relationships
* A supportive, enthusiastic team player attitude
* Customer-focused mindset
* Strong influencing, negotiation, and trading skills
* Self-motivation and initiative
