Overview
Brent Talking Therapies is located in the diverse London borough of Brent. This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior CBT Therapist/Clinical Psychologist/Counselling Psychologist to join our committed team. We are looking for a qualified and experienced therapist to take on clinical, supervisory, managerial, and service development related responsibilities. You must have substantial experience of working as a CBT therapist within Step 3 of a talking therapies service (IAPT), and experience of providing formal clinical supervision to qualified clinicians and trainees. We are looking for a professional and motivated individual interested in developing their leadership skills, to work alongside the deputy clinical lead in areas such as Step 2 CBT waitlist management and clinical supervision. Experience working with trauma and/or long-term health conditions is welcome. You must have current BABCP therapist accreditation as an essential requirement in order to apply for this role.
The post holder will have good knowledge of the talking therapies programme and strong communication, problem-solving and professional relationship-building skills with staff, service users, partners and the general public.
Responsibilities
* Provide expert supervision and support for qualified CBT therapists, psychological wellbeing practitioners and trainees.
* Contribute to senior clinician cover for the service and participate in duty and evening clinics as part of the senior leadership team.
* Provide effective line management and clinical leadership within the Step 2 team and contribute to its development within the service.
* Carry a clinical caseload and provide highly specialist assessments, formulations and interventions for clients using a stepped care model in line with the national programme and NICE guidance.
* Work with clients across mental health services and a range of client groups, including those with moderate to complex, severe and enduring mental health problems.
* Receive regular clinical and managerial supervision and join the service’s senior leadership team; work with wider CNWL Talking Therapies services and clinical psychology networks.
* Mentor and supervise Trainee Clinical Psychologists and CBT Trainees where opportunities arise.
* Coordinate and manage Departmental Waiting Lists and ensure timely access to services.
Qualifications and Experience
* Essential criteria
* Post-qualification training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) leading to BABCP accreditation.
* BABCP therapist accreditation.
* Substantial post-qualification experience in an IAPT service as a qualified high-intensity therapist.
* Experience in specialist psychological assessment and treatment across a range of mental health conditions and settings (outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient).
* Experience working with diverse client groups across the life span with high professionalism in challenging contexts.
* Desirable criteria
* Research methodology, staff training or other applied psychology qualifications.
* Clinical or counselling psychology background.
* Experience in teaching, training and supervision of staff.
* Experience of working in a multicultural framework and delivering therapy in languages other than English.
Knowledge and Skills
* Advanced skills in psychological assessment, intervention and management; ability to interpret complex data and maintain high concentration.
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey complex information to clients, families, carers and colleagues.
* Experience providing consultation to professionals and ongoing professional development as recommended by BABCP.
* Experience of providing formal supervision.
Working arrangements
Location: Brent catchment area; main hub at Fairfields House, Kingsbury, with a satellite hub at Bell House, Willesden Green. Requires work across hubs and in community settings; flexible agile working with remote and on-site delivery of appointments. Full-time hours with potential evening fittings (8am–8pm weekdays).
