About the role
Vision for Educationis seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to work in an SEN School in Leicester on a full-time basis.
Hours 0830-3.30pm Monday- Friday.
About the Role:
1. Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
2. Assisting the class teacher in delivering adapted learning activities to meet individual needs.
3. Supporting pupils with a range of needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and sensory impairments.
4. Help implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual learning strategies.
5. Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and independence in learning.
6. Supporting students’ emotional wellbeing and social development.
7. Assist with classroom preparation, resources, and learning materials.
8. Monitor and record student progress and behaviour, reporting to teachers and SEN staff.
9. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents to support pupil development.
10. Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.
11. Familiarity with different types of special educational needs and the educational approaches used to support them.
12. Patience in managing challenging behaviour and helping students progress at their own pace.
13. Voluntary or paid roles in educational or care settings may be considered.

14. This school is a Therapeutic independent specialist setting for children aged 5–11 (Years 1–6) with identified needs in cognition and learning and/or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH).

About you:-
19. Experience working with children, ideally in SEN or specialist settings, alternative provisions or pupil referral units, Pastoral or behaviour support roles
20. Experience supporting children with Emotional regulation difficulties, challenging behaviour, Learning difficulties or developmental delays
21. Strong communication skills (with children, families, and professionals)
22. Ability to build trusting relationships
23. Emotional intelligence and empathy
24. Behaviour management and de-escalation skills
25. Flexibility and adaptability
26. Teamwork and collaboration with therapists, teachers, and external agencies
27. Good observation and record-keeping skills
28. Able to obtain a DBS and provide relevant references
