DCT in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with on-call

We are recruiting for two DCT 2 posts in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, commencing on 3rd September 2025 and ending on 1st September 2026.
The successful candidates will have opportunities to attend outpatient clinics and treatment sessions, gaining experience working closely with medical and surgical colleagues across all OMFS clinical areas. They will attend theatre sessions and are encouraged to develop surgical skills appropriate for their level.
Main duties of the job
The candidates will be part of a team of 7 first-tier trainees, including a core surgical trainee. The working pattern is a 7-week cycle (1:7), rotating through operating theatres, outpatient activities, treatment sessions, day case theatre, ward, and on-call duties. The post includes resident out-of-hours on-call responsibilities based at Morriston Hospital, with a split between weekdays and weekends covering days or nights in a rolling rota.
They will participate in outpatient clinics, treatment sessions, and theatre sessions, developing surgical skills suitable for their level. Opportunities for research, quality improvement projects, and clinical audits are available.
Trainees will work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety and well-being, under supervision of OMFS middle grade and consultants.
The service collaborates with partner organisations, statutory bodies, voluntary agencies, and maintains links with local General Practitioners.

* Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
* Applicants must have completed a UK Dental Core Training Year 1 or equivalent by the start date.
* Applicants should demonstrate effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken, suitable for medical discussions with patients and colleagues, as assessed by the General Dental Council.
* Evidence of participation in research is required.
* Portfolio demonstrating progression and development of clinical skills and professional growth.

Salary: £41,269 to £57,069 per annum, pro-rata.
