Job Title: IT Support Specialist Department: IT Location: Manchester Reports to: Head of IT Role Purpose The IT Support Specialist will assist the Head of IT in maintaining and developing the company’s computer systems and network infrastructure. The role includes ensuring system reliability, overseeing installations, managing backups, providing technical support, and delivering a first-class IT service across the business. Key Responsibilities Support and maintain the technical infrastructure, including servers, storage, virtualisation, desktops, networks, and remote devices. Liaise with suppliers to source hardware/software solutions. Test, update, and maintain systems to ensure optimal performance. Assist in delivering IT infrastructure projects and identifying system improvement opportunities. Implement and manage security, backup, and disaster recovery procedures. Schedule and carry out system upgrades. Provide user training, advice, and technical support via phone, email, or in person. Maintain IT hardware such as PCs, laptops, and printers. Manage secure network access for remote users. Ensure compliance with software licensing laws and company IT policies. Support Microsoft Active Directory, password resets, antivirus deployment, cabling, and hardware moves. Keep up to date with emerging technologies and recommend enhancements. Key Requirements Experience & Qualifications Degree or relevant professional qualification (e.g., MCP, MCSA, MCSE, MCIPT) preferred. Proven IT support/service delivery experience in a similar environment. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, OneDrive, and Microsoft Exchange. Experience supporting cloud telephone systems and mobile device management. Proficiency with the MS Office Suite. Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to other sites. Skills & Attributes Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work to deadlines and service level agreements. Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts. Team-oriented with the ability to work independently. Flexible regarding working hours and able to travel at short notice.
