Locum Consultant in Respiratory Medicine

Applications are invited for a full time Locum Consultantpost in Respiratory Medicine. The successful candidate will join a team of 18consultants at the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

Our team provides general and specialistin-patient and out-patient services including:

aspecialist sleep service caring for sleep apnoea and other sleep disorders(5000 patients on CPAP)

ahome ventilation service (350 patients on home ventilation)

apurpose built dedicated 14 bed Acute Respiratory Care unit for patients requiringacute NIV, acute CPAP, HFNO etc.

alarge lung cancer service with thoracoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (about500 new cancers pa)

acomprehensive lung cancer multi-disciplinary meeting with close links tothoracic surgery

anationally recognized asthma service

specialistservices for interstitial lung disease and tuberculosis

Duties will be based primarily on our PinderfieldsHospital site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care topatients on all our sites, namely Dewsbury Hospital and Pontefract Hospital. Main duties of the post are to includedelivery of outpatient clinics (general and specialist), inpatient respiratorywork including the Acute Respiratory Care Unit and on-call duties.

Inpatientrespiratory work including the Acute Respiratory Care Unit (Respiratory Level 1Unit)

Urgent andEmergency Care duties for respiratory medicine including out-of-hours on-call;schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulationsand safe working

On-call dutiesare currently shared with 16 other colleagues on a specialist respiratory rota,currently assessed as 1 PA to cover post take ward rounds and evening work. Oncall commitments are as follows: Weekday evening work 3hrs post take ward round1 in16 weekdays. Weekend work 7hrs post take ward round/ward cover 1 in 8weekend days. Overnight on call 1 in 16 days. Category A intensity. Time off inlieu will be arranged via the job planning process

SupportingProfessional Activities in accordance with the Trust Framework forrevalidation, with at least 1.5 SPA included in the core 10PA timetable.Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in line with the skills of thesuccessful candidate and changing requirements of the service. Examples mayinclude formal teaching responsibilities or departmental leadership roles. Manyin the department pursue research interests and/or have a strong commitment toservice development and teaching; applicants with a shared enthusiasm for theseareas are encouraged.

In 2021/22,Respiratory Medicine cared for 5,491 new outpatients and 8,954 follow-uppatients.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Medical Degree from recognised medical school
* MRCP or equivalent
* Medical School Prizes
* Audit or Case Presentations
* Teaching qualification/ prize


GMC Registration

* Please state full GMC number
* Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
* Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Respiratory and General Medicine or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR / equivalent)


Management Skills

* Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
* Good time management.

Experience
