Position Summary
Drives and operates boom trucks, flatbed trucks, dump trucks, and truck mounted forklifts to transport concrete block, brick, bagged concrete products and other various construction related warehouse products. Abides by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Reliable attendance required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs a daily a pre and post-trip safety check on equipment and the truck to assure a safe and operational vehicle. Documents any maintenance that may be required. Determines the most effective route to and from the delivery site. Maintains mileage reports and accurate logbooks to meet DOT criteria.
Transports and maintains condition of any of the concrete block, brick, or warehouse products as part of the company inventory that can be safely hauled on assigned vehicle. May transport product to an affiliated company &/or pick up product from an affiliated company.
Assists in loading and cubing of product (may be done by lift truck or by hand) &/or make corrections and adjustments as needed.
At the discretion of dispatch, incumbent will be required to do pick-ups of pallets and block which may be done by hand or boom truck. Pick-ups may require hand work to assure orderly pick-up.
Verifies the load matches the load ticket for delivery of product.
Straps and secures loads to comply with state, federal and local laws and company safety policy.
At the destination site, removes straps and securings and unloads using the boom or mule in the area requested by the customer. May unload by hand if necessary, according to company safety policies and procedures.
Follows guidelines and instructions by dispatch personnel.
Assists other areas--repair/maintenance in the plant area, yard clean-up, snow removal, pallet repair, help in block plant or drive other equipment for affiliated companies when the workload is light.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and
2. 1 year related experience and/or training driving tractor trailer trucks; or
3. an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Valid NE Commercial Driver’s License Class A
Skills and Abilities:
4. Must meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical requirements and carry a physical exam card, which is to be kept current according to DOT guidelines.
5. Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets and memos.
6. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season including late or irregular hours.
7. Previous knowledge of construction and construction products is helpful.
8. Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
