Student Support Assistant Location: Chester le Street Working hours: 8:30am – 4pm (Monday to Friday) Temporary, long-term contract Leader Education are seeking a motivated and compassionate Student Support Assistant to work with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Main responsibilities: Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to deliver targeted 1:1 and small group support Support students in developing positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation skills Help build students’ confidence within the classroom and wider school environment Encourage increased engagement in learning and participation in school life Remain calm under pressure and effectively de-escalate challenging situations Contribute to each student’s long-term success and personal development This specialist PRU setting supports young people at risk of, or excluded from, mainstream education, providing a structured and therapeutic environment to help them re-engage with learning.
