The Role 💼
We’re hiring a Solar PV Designer to lead the technical side of our solar projects. You’ll be designing systems that are compliant, cost-effective, and ready for real-world installs.
You’ll work closely with Sales, Ops, and Engineering to deliver accurate designs and quick turnarounds. Your work will drive better installs, fewer issues, and happier customers.
This is a full-time role based at our Bolton HQ with hybrid working available.
What You’ll Be Doing 🔑
* Designing domestic solar and battery systems using OpenSolar or similar tools
* Creating layout drawings, performance estimates, and technical packs
* Supporting Sales with quick feasibility checks and accurate system sizing
* Ensuring every design meets MCS, DNO, and G98 or G99 requirements
* Preparing DNO applications and final documentation
* Working with the install team to ensure the design is practical and cost-efficient
* Reviewing customer photos, site info, and surveys to flag issues early
* Improving internal design processes and templates as we scale
What We’re Looking For ✅
* Experience designing solar PV systems for UK homes
* Familiarity with tools like OpenSolar or similar platforms
* Strong understanding of MCS and DNO regulations
* Confident reading schematics and handling technical requirements
* Detail-focused, logical, and good at spotting potential problems
* A great communicator who can work across departments
* Bonus if you have battery or heat pump experience
