Leeds (with potential flexibility for Manchester)
Competitive Salary & Fantastic Benefits
Play a Key Role in an Expanding Global Legal Function
Haggerty Jaques is proud to supporting a leading international law firm as it continues to expand its in-house global legal team.
A Strategic, Business-Facing Role
This position offers the chance to work on a broad and high-value range of commercial and technology contracts that are vital to the day-to-day running and strategic future of the firm.
You will be working closely with key stakeholders across the business, procurement colleagues, and leadership teams, with the ability to directly influence the firm’s contracting processes and supplier relationships.
Whilst the role will involve you advising on a wide array of commercial contracts, it will have a particular focus on technology contracts. The firm makes fantastic use of new technology and therefore this role will see you working at the cutting edge of decisions that shape the firm’s future.
Working in-house for an international law firm, you will have impressive resources and facilities on hand, as well as specialist fee-earners to turn to and to help guide your advice.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this senior role, you will:
* Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of complex and high-value commercial and IT contracts.
* Provide proactive legal support to procurement and business teams on all contracts-related matters.
* Help drive improvements to contracting processes and legal operations.
* Mentor and support more junior members of the procurement legal team, helping them to develop their skills and experience.
* Stay abreast of relevant legal and regulatory developments, ensuring the firm’s contracts and processes remain robust and effective.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced commercial lawyer with:
* At least 4 years’ PQE and strong previous in-house legal experience - this is essential.
* Expertise in drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide array of commercial contracts, but particularly in the IT and technology space.
* Proven ability to provide pragmatic, solutions-focused advice to internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
* Some experience of data protection.
* Experience of managing or mentoring more junior lawyers, or a genuine desire to develop these skills.
* Confidence in working autonomously, making informed decisions, and adding real value to business strategy and risk management.
A Supportive, Forward-Looking Environment
This is an excellent opportunity to join a collegiate and supportive team in a business that is proud of its collaborative culture.
You will have the latitude to shape your role, build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, and make an impact during a period of global growth.
Any references to PQE are provided as a guide and should not deter candidates with more or fewer years’ experience from applying. We welcome applications from individuals who can demonstrate the requisite skills and expertise for this role.
Haggerty Jaques is committed to promoting equality and diversity. We encourage applications from all qualified individuals, regardless of background.
