About the role

The Group Head of Operations will support Racecourse Teams in creating and maintaining a continuous improvement and proactive customer centric culture within The Jockey Club (“TJC”) Group. Acting as the Technical Lead across a number of key partnerships you will blend operational excellence, strong supplier and contract management with commercial acumen, customer centricity and collaborative working. Assisting the Group to profitably deliver exceptional experiences to internal and external clients and developing growth strategies, monitor industry trends, and ensure we build a sustainable business and an impeccable reputation as a leading sporting & events destination.

The Group Head of Operations will

* Lead the delivery of exceptional event experiences through a joined-up, cross-departmental approach.
* Champion compliance with TJC event delivery standards, ensuring consistency and excellence across all sites.
* Continuously refine and enhance operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
* Drive post-event evaluation processes to capture insights and embed learnings for future success.
* Use data and market intelligence to identify opportunities that add value and improve service delivery.
* Create and maintain a group-wide training matrix, ensuring all key event roles are skilled and prepared.
* Oversee Duty Manager and License Holder responsibilities, supporting ongoing professional development.
* Manage and optimise the central event delivery system to streamline planning and execution.
* Develop and monitor operational KPIs that demonstrate measurable performance improvements.
* Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement in event delivery.


About you

* Proven track record in large-scale event operations and complex, multi-site delivery.
* Skilled in translating data and insight into measurable business improvements.
* Experienced in designing and embedding compliant, strategic, and efficient service frameworks.
* Strong financial and commercial management capability with a focus on value creation.
* Demonstrated success leading and motivating diverse, high-performing teams.
* Expert in contract management across live events, entertainment, and technical production.
* Adept at project management — delivering high-quality outcomes against challenging objectives.
* Experience in process mapping, performance tracking, and continuous service improvement.
* Collaborative operator, effective at influencing senior stakeholders and driving cross-functional delivery.
* Strategic thinker with the foresight to assess risks, anticipate change, and align with future organisational goals.
